The OnePlus Nord 5 is very impressive!
I think it’s safe to say that we’re not short of quality mid-range smartphones anymore. A few years ago, phones retailing for around $500-$700 would be noticeably weaker phones than their flagship cousins. But now, there is so much great value on offer.
But that also means it’s a noisy, saturated market which is hard to stand out in. And that’s the mindset I find myself approaching the OnePlus Nord 5; is there enough here to make me recommend adding it to your shopping list if you’re searching for a new mid-range phone?
Design & Build: Back to Basics
The OnePlus Nord 4 tried something bold with its all-metal design. It felt premium. Different. Dare I say… fun? I liked it a lot and it definitely made the phone stand out.
The Nord 5 walks that back, returning to a more conventional Gorilla Glass sandwich with a slight look of the Pixel 9a about it. It doesn’t look quite as unique, but on reflection it does feel more modern now than the metal design.
