I agree to a degree, Neil, but Apple didn’t think twice about removing the headphone jack — and there was an even more colossal base of cabled-headphone owners back then.

And you’re right, this isn’t the end of the world. But technology is all about convenience, and this is one area in which Apple’s shortsightedness significantly dents the user experience.
