I agree with you, Charles! As for 'smashing it out', well, my mum told me a million times not to exaggerate, but I think there's a smidgen of truth there about the Studio.
That top end Mac line feels treacherous. I bet there have been some seriously dire conversations and interactions behind the scenes relating to the direction. Conversely, I do believe that Apple will sometimes hurry products through (it's exactly what they did with the Watch, according to insider reports). The Studio looks and feels like that sort of product, even if it is very accomplished and capable.
As for the tech press, I can speak only for myself when I say that I dearly wish Apple's product line would gain some sense, order, and - I'm sorry to say - 'Jobsiness' about it. It feels very profit and supply driven these days, which is inevitable with Cook at the helm.
