I rarely use the 8GB version for video to be honest, Robert. As I’ve noted in previous articles, I wouldn’t hesitate to turn to it if my 16GB Mac mini ceased to work, but it’s certainly not my main video editing machine.

I really can’t emphasise enough how much the reported swapping issue doesn’t concern me. If you throw stupidly intensive workflows at an 8GB M1 machine, you really should be using something else.

I’m pretty averse to performance peeping when everything appears to be running ok. That’s a personal thing, of course, and I totally understand why people like to do it. It’s just not for me :)
