Motorola has a history with flip phones, and I’m not just talking about these new-fangled multi-screened marvels like the Razr 60 Ultra that we have now. No, I’m talking old school. Back in 2004, the Motorola Razr V3 was the ‘cool phone’, the phone everyone wanted to have.

I never had that phone, but I have got my hands on the Razr 60 Ultra which forms part of a fascinating niche for Motorola. When choosing a new smartphone, you might not even spare a thought for Motorola, but if you want a flip phone, they are one of the most established names and trusted manufacturers.

The Razr 50 Ultra was well-loved and widely regarded as the best-in-class. I want to know if that’s still true with the Razr 60 Ultra; is it the new ‘cool phone’ and should you buy it?

Flip factor 1: Is it well built?

The main thing you worry about when you own a modern flip phone is the hinge. When you hold one, it feels like that if you were to apply pressure the wrong way, it would easily snap. I won’t be testing that specific element for obvious reasons, but what you do want is a sturdy, robust and long-lasting hinge mechanism.
