Oppo Is Back — With a Bang (Two, Actually)
Say hello to the Find X8 and X8 Pro
In 2022, it all got a bit messy with Oppo and the European smartphone market; a dust-up with Nokia saw the Chinese smartphone maker banned from selling its devices in Germany. Later that year, Oppo left Europe entirely due to on-going licensing disputes with Nokia.
This was a shame, because Oppo smartphones are rather lovely devices. I reviewed the Find X5 Pro smartphone and Reno8 before it all kicked off in 2022 and gave them both top marks for looks, camera performance, and overall user satisfaction.
Earlier this year, Oppo and Nokia resolved their licensing dispute, paving a way for the former to make a return to the European market.
Good news: that time is now, and it starts with the Find X8 and X8 Pro.
Specs and pricing
There’s more big news for this Oppo release. The Find X8 and X8 Pro are among the first devices to receive the brand-new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. It’s the exact same chip in both phones, too — and they both get 16GB of RAM, which is nice.
The Find X8 and X8 Pro also share the same display — a ProXDR unit with 4,500 nits of peak brightness and PWM dimming. The only difference is the size of each display, which is 6.59 inches…
