Thanks for reading an engaging (as always), Charles. Just a few notes from me, in relation to your response:
- this article is entirely my opinion, to which I’m entitled. As are you — but I find your comment unnecessarily abrasive, which is a shame (Medium is at its best when there’s good-natured debate taking place — particularly on topics such as this, which aren’t life or death — we’re talking about tech)
- you seem to have wilfully ignored the fact that I referred to Sir Jony as a genius, which he unquestionably is
- you also willfully ignored my caveat: I’m not a designer. Put me at the helm of the industrial design team, and lord only knows what would (or wouldn’t) appear on stage behind Tim Cook.
- I of course want to create ‘clickable’ content which people will read and engage with; this personal brand is designed to generate revenue, but, equally, I write this stuff because I love doing so. I therefore always get a bit prickly when people suggest I’m doing this “just for the clicks” (trust me, I have better things to be doing with my time). It certainly isn’t “lazy”, either — I pour my heart and soul into this stuff.
- If you think there’s a far more interesting story to be had, put yourself out there (as I have done) and write about it — that’s what Medium is all about
- "universally despised” and “sold by the bucketloads” isn’t oxymoronic in this context; the point was that MacBooks Pro are always going to sell by the bucketloads
Once again, thank you for reading and getting involved.
