Thanks for the kind(ish) words, Charles šŸ˜‰ I think this debate simply illustrates that the term ā€˜click baitā€™ has lost all meaning.

I agree with everything you say. But hereā€™s the rub: I write headlines and YouTube video titles that encourage clicks. I dislike most of them - Iā€™d rather write more creative headlines. Alas, they donā€™t draw in the attention (trust me - Iā€™ve tried and have spent many years in marketing) because my audience isnā€™t large enough. When it is, I hope to invest my time in headlines I enjoy writing. A bit like Peter McKinnonā€™s ability to write a single word YouTube title and gain hundreds of thousands of views.

Itā€™s marketing at the end of the day, Charles. But as a creator, the misconception of clickbait/tabloid headlines/whatever you want to call them, is frustrating - trust me.
