For what it’s worth, I’m totally with you on the Apple Tax thing. Maybe it is a bit shortsighted to use that term when covering Macs. They are still, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the competition for all of the reasons you’ve mentioned, and for that reason, it’s worth paying a premium. This has only been strengthened with the release of the M1 machines.
I would argue that Apple Tax comes into play with other product lines, though. The AirPods Max, for instance, and their peripherals. The latter, in particular, are often obnoxiously priced — like the aux cable option for the aforementioned headphones, for instance.
